Delighted to be here

two children dressed up for Hallowe'en

These children were a pleasure to behold. So delighted to be out and about, to be admired and honored for their effort in dressing up and participating in the culture that adores them and nurtures them. They were in the second wave of children, which is comprised of the youngest ones. It arrives immediately after the first wave of slightly older children, usually boys, who are out to score the maximum amount of candy. Those children, who often travel in groups of three or four, don’t come with their parents. But these ones do, and the parents maintain a respectful distance, waiting on the sidewalk while their children brave the unknown, trudging up spooky staircases to the anxious encounter.
